The weather looks set to be nice for September, an Indian summer, prefect for getting outside and back to training as the children return to school.

It is tempting to go back too hard, too quickly, remembering how fit you were at the end of term. If you have not managed to train consistently during the holidays it’s best to ease yourself back in. You will be back to full fitness in no time. More importantly you will avoid the frustrating injuries often caused by overtraining too quickly after a break.

Warming up and cooling down are key parts of your training. Stretching after your exercise has been shown to aid recovery and help you avoids Delayed Onset of Muscular soreness, DOMS. Enjoy your training and remember to increase your water in take by 500mls per hour of training.

Cross training is great for the body, try something new, mix it up.
